Lose the Game

The result for the Cambodia trip was out during the time I’m in Perak, for Felda Program. We lose it. We lose not because our photos not as good as another group, but we lose it just because our food introduction not attractive as them.

This time the editor asked for another photographer to judge for the photos and he himself judge for the article and the food introduction. We get full marks for four sections (Photo Composition, Article, History Introduction and Group Introduction) out of five but only the food introduction part we get very low marks, 10 out of 30, this is really unacceptable since our other section can get full marks, I don’t think that this section we cannot make it at least 15 marks.

The editor gives us the comment as we did well in the photos and all the article, but the only thing he felt very disappointed is about our food, we didn’t shoot some photos when we try the local food, and he expected we at least ‘TRY’. (We didn’t take the photos when we eating doesn’t mean that we didn’t try. LOL)

Just with this reason we lose the game. The photographer did advice the editor before he makes his last decision, but the editor didn’t take it. They never inform us that this competition they more concern on the food part and set it as the highest marks among all. For me, they should set this the title of this competition as: Cambodia Food Introduction.

I’d felt so sad with the result, I can’t believe that they can judge it with like this. The story hasn’t end up yet…

The editor called Jane after we’re received the result. He told us that he only accept two photographer in the other team, the team who won this game, and he wish that we can join them to become a team. Jane asked him the reason, and he said that he think that some of the places they cannot do it as good as our team, and he wants us to join them so that the result can be prefect. (WTF, let them win but never believe they can do what he want, then why let them win this game. FUCK…)

He asks us to consider this offer so that we still can work with them. Jane and me didn’t give any answer yet, because the photographer who judge for this Cambodia trip called us the day before the result out and confirm with us that this coming June we will help his company to do a portfolio for Bandung, Indonesia. He get our contact from the travel company, just because he wish to buy our production for the Cambodia, but too bad we decided to put our production on the TravelMate Magazine.

We felt so unhappy with the result but in the other way we met someone that knows how to appreciate our production. The trip to Bandung was confirmed and now we need to do some preparation for it.

One of our friends said the editor just use this competition to force us do our best to produce something nice, but at the end he only pick up the person that he wants, not the team. Just like now he try to match our team with another team and split that team into two, only pick two out of four members, very unfair for that team. The other group did call up and said their group unhappy with the result too. They agree with our production, and they know we should win the game, and the editor actually know who’s the best, only he expected too much from our team. He thought that we should do everything better than the other group, but…

Never expect too much

The editor not the only one who expect too high on us, our lecturer is one of them. When we pass our photos to our lecturer, the first comment from him was: What happened to both of you? Why the photos not as good as the one from Cameron? You didn’t put full effort on it… you all should be able to do it better than this… I want something special and different.

We really don’t wish that people expect too much from us, I know people expect this because they believe that we can do it, but when we didn’t present something they expected, then the result will be same as the result for this competition. It’s really hurt me and Jane.

We cannot change anything for the result but thanks God that we found some supporter during this competition. That day my mood so down, and I keep on thinking what our lecturer’s comment on our work.

We promised our lecturer to continue our study on the studio class, because he wants us to do so, he believes that we will discover more from the class. He expects that we can produce something better than now. This lecturer gives us a lot of advice and support. Other classmates know that for him, I and Jane are the top students among others, so he always expects us to be better than others.

No matter how, we did learn a lot during this competition. We know our weaknesses, and we learn how to plan for our trip, so that next round we know what to do in our next back-packer trip. Then we got the chance to show others our skill and let others to teach us how to correct our skill too. We lose the game but actually we win a lot.

首先，恭喜各位组员，也欢迎加入本社这小家庭。主编非常满意你们这次所成交的食物简介，图片说名非常详细，食物的各式吃法依依存在，令主编欣赏的是，你们勇于尝试各式各类的美食。透过照片，可得知你们尽情吃喝的每个过程，也可得知食物的特别性。至於照片构图及文笔说明方面，须加于努力，带出更加出乎意料及动感的画面。

在照片构图及文笔说明方面，无可否认，你们比第3组来得更加的棒，非有创意及具有新鲜感，文笔说明仅是一 级棒的。你们所成交的食物简介，非有创意，食物简介说明相当明确，令人阅了以后垂涎三尺的，有股冲动想去尝吃。但主编感到非常的失望，你们却没勇于尝试的勇气。从第3组的鸭蛋简介中，可看到它的吃法，蛋里头的照形，也可看到组员们拿起鸭蛋尽情享受的画面，但，在你们的鸭蛋简介中，有的只是鸭蛋排行的普遍画面。在当地，也有着更多的美食，但，却没一 列在你们的简介中，这因素，导致主编在美食简介中大打折扣分。无论如何，感谢你们这次的参与，希望再会有合作的机会。
