Sabah Trip - EyeCare Project Part 2

Felda Day 4 (25/03/2008)

This will be the busiest day for us during this trip. Yesterday we only did about 250 orders, but today we did about 500 orders, just in that 8-9hours. Tired.

Today just work like a machine, repeating the same steps and same questions. Boring. Some more some of them didn’t give us fully co-operation, so is a bit hard to finish our job on time. Some of them cannot read, some of them using different type of language.

*Blank… not thing can write, just too tired…

Felda Day 5 (26/03/2008)

Another tiring day on the road, we spent another 7 and a half hour on the road, all the way from Sahabat Resort to Tawau Town. We’re so suffer on the road…

Reached this town, doesn’t mean that we can take some rest after that, because we still need to do some setup at the hall in the Felda. The Felda is located at the area which is one hour journey from the hotel we staying. After take our fast lunch, 15mins, and then we need to take a move.

Another one hour on the van, inside the van so quite, just because everyone got no energy to speak anymore. We just wish to finish the setup as soon as possible, and then only we can take some rest.

The Dinner

Today we take our dinner a bit late, but at least they pick the right place for dinner, Seafood Restaurant. In Sabah, if you never go for the seafood that’s mean you never step into this land. The funny thing is this group of “City Guys” complains for the price after the bill send to our table. They thought that the seafood in Sabah as cheap as they eat the food in the mamak store (Indian Food Store). Tonight the dinner of the 6-7 dishes cost us RM215, plus RM25 for the drinks, so total up just not more than RM250, for 10people. For me, it consider cheap, because I know the pricing for the seafood in this place.

Just enjoy the dinner, don’t really care about the price, not me to care for the bill.

Felda Day 6 (27/03/2008)

This another working day, this day we work at Felda Umas, Tawau. Another busy day, with all eyetest, not thing else to do. The whole day repeating the same question and doing the same thing.

Everything just ended so fast, after this 2 days project in this small town then will end up our trip for this time. Then I’ll need to go back to settle my problem again. Talk about my problem, till now still got no settlement for it.

HR still didn’t give me any letter, since they type the incorrect date for the first warning letter, until now I still waiting for their next action. Another side, the Mobile manager still arranging my next branch for me to go, but we still haven’t figure out what to do and what will be my new target for it. He got a lot of work to do so I know I need to wait for sometimes.

Actually for my side, I still wondering should I agree with them to take over another branch and set the new target. I’m not sure. What I need to consider will be the contract part, so if I really go now, for sure I’ll need to worry about the contract. If I still stay here then I’m not sure what will happen next.

I wish to do what I really love, but I’m not sure that I can do it well, since I’m a new guy in this photography. I still need to learn more and need more practice for it. I’m not ready.

Felda Day 7 (28/03/2008)

Today is the last day for5 our project in Sabah. Actually this trip didn’t reach our target, we set our target to be at least 2000 order and the income should be 100k for four days, but now I think we only can make about 60-70% of it.

The expenses for this project very high, budget for the accommodation and expenses is about 15k. I’m not sure what we get from the sales really can cover the cost or not. Some more we still need to count in the cost for the next trip to send all these order from KL to Sabah again.

Talk about the hand over, I’m not sure who will want to follow since this trip we’re so suffer on the road. We spent more than 48hours just on the road and on the plane. Next trip they should plan for the proper plan, don’t let the staff to suffer again.

Today really tired, I wish that I can have some proper rest after this project.

Sabah Trip - EyeCare Project

Back-Post for 22/03/2008

Sabah Eyecare Project

Just finished my Cambodia trip in the last few days then now have to join the mobile team to this Felda EyeCare Project in Sabah for 9days. Thanks God that I finished process the photo for my Cambodia trip before I off to Sabah.

This morning we took the first flight to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, another early flight, another night that not enough sleep.

Our flight around 7.30am, and after two and a half hour flight we reach the capital city of the Land Below the Wind – Sabah. After check out everything from the cargo, then we just take our late breakfast at the local restaurant in the city.

After the breakfast we need to start our long journey all the way go to this place called Lahad Datu. This the town far away from KK city, it’s almost 400km, plus we need to enter into the Felda area, which is another 102km from the Lahad Datu town.

This journey take us 11hours to reach this resort called Sahabat Beach Resort, under Felda Plantation Sdn Bhd Lahad Datu, Sabah. If anyone visit the Damai Resort in Kuching then you can imagine the resort here, because the design of this resort is just similar to the design of Damai Resort. All the room’s balcony facing the beach, and the resort got this swimming poor in the garder in between the hotel and the beach.

When we reach here we forget everything, and everyone feel so happy, at the end we can take a good rest after 11hours suffer on the road. The road condition on the way is not as good as you thought. It’s terrible.

On the way, we stopped at few places, one of it is the place to eat the famous “Chicken-Ass'” (Ops, such a bad name for this nice food), and the BBQ Chicken Wings. This place is located in the market near to Kudasang town, everyone who pass by this place sure will drop by here. This place is also selling some fresh vegetable and fruits. Just Located 5km from Kinabalu Park.

Tomorrow we need to setup the hall for the next day, tonight need a good rest after all.

Felda Day 2 (23/03/2008)

This is the most relaxing day during this trip. Today we only have to setup the hall for the following days. The setup only spent us not more than 2 hours, and then we take our lunch at the nearest town. The town only has not more than 6 blocks of shoplot.

After the lunch we got not thing to do, so went back to our resort and take some rest. This afternoon I spent most of the time on the TV series.

Around 5pm, we’re called out by them to beach next to our resort. We spent the great time here by taking some funny photo and enjoy the nice view on this beach. I wish that this moment I could spend it with my special one.

The cloud on this beach really nice, can’t stop myself to take some photo, too bad I’m only carry my Coolpix P5100, if my D80 with me sure I’ll spent the whole evening here.

After today then we need to work for two days, that two days we got no time to relax.

Felda day 3 (24/03/2008)

Wake up early in the morning, take a fast breakfast then started our work for today. This day my job is to do the eye test for the patient, then tomorrow will be my turn to dispense the lenses and frame. Actually I prefer just to do the eye test, just because I hate the other part, not that easy to communicate with the people in this village, some of them don’t really understand what we try to tell them.

A tired and boring day, this work only will make me feel bored. (When can I finish this job and change to another environment?)

Back-Post 2

Cambodia Trip

Fourth Day Plan

Today our plan is to visit the floating village – Tonle Sap Lake, the largest freshwater lake in South East Asia. Before we go, we never imagine that this place can be as poor as what we seen in our own eye. The condition here is really terrible.

The children here get use with their life with asking something from the tourist. They try to sell you something but actually they try to ask for the money, they wish that you may pay extra for what they sell.

The water on this lake starting is in Black color, and then when come to the middle of the lake is in brown color, like the milky tea color. When you near to the village, the water is in greenish color, you never see the natural color of the water, Blue. I really can’t imagine how the residents here use the water for their daily use. They use it for laundry, shower, or maybe cooking too.

This lake give us a lot of story, about the people here, about the government, about the story behind this lake, about the children, about the water, about the nature…… compare to the temples that we visit before this, the lake is too special for us.

We stay here for 3-4 hours, then we take a short break for lunch, but we didn’t take our lunch but do some discussion. Then in this afternoon we visit the temple which is 13km away from the Angkor Archaeological Park, or Siem Reap, this group of temple called Roluos Group. This three temples actually similar to East Mebon and PreRup temple, but only different is they got this cow as their protector. Actually I saw this cow stature at Banteay Srei, but not in complete like the one in Bakong (One of the temple in Roluos Group)

Lolei: we only spent not more than 15mins in this temple.

Preah Ko: another 15 mins for this temple.

Bakong: this the biggest temple in this area, but we only spent not more than 30mins for it, just because the design is similar with East Mebon and Pre Rup, so not thing special for us.

This night our dinner in the local restaurant opposite our hotel, we planned to take our buffer dinner there and enjoy the traditional dance, Aspara Dance.

Fifth Day – The Last Day

This day the last day for this Cambodia trip, but this not a good day for me, because last night after the buffer dinner at this local restaurant my stomach feel not so well and the whole night cannot sleep well.

This morning my stomach still feels a bit uncomfortable, but we still have to continue for today’s plan. Today our plan is to go for this temple on the hill. It’s a bit far from the town, so we need to travel for about one and a half hour to reach the destination. The road condition is not that good, the feeling just like travel on the board.

I’m not so enjoy the trip for this day and I can’t really concentrate on my job. I leave the mission to Jane, let her to finish it. Luckily this the last day of the trip, if the day before I’m facing this kind of condition then for sure will spoil the whole trip.

Now we need to do enter into the second stage of our competition, we need to edit and choose the photos, and then need to ready the article (Jane’s job) for the final stage.

My stomach still pain… Haiz… Thanks for the great food from the restaurant, I never facing this problem even before this I tried out the food at the stall from the first evening in Cambodia. Can’t really believe that the food in the big restaurant even worst than the one in the stall.

So fast we ended our five days trip. I’m not sure what will happen next but I already did what I want for this trip. Now just wait for the result.

Back-Post

Back from Cambodia for sometimes de, now only got time to back-post for what happened in Cambodia.

The First Day (14/03/2008)

This is the first day in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Everything is fine, only not enough rest. Yesterday night whole night didn’t sleep because we need to go to airport around 3am, the Limo reached our place on time, and before 4am we reached LCCT.

After finished our early breakfast in Mc D, then we check-in before the long queue form, because we know that everyday only one flight to go to Siem Reap. I’m not sure why, maybe AirAsia giving out many promotion, so this period a lot of people travel with AirAsia. On the plane, totally full, AirAsia really make a lot of many.

During the time waiting for boarding, we feel so boring and sleepy, not enough sleep and boring with the time of waiting. When on board, we cannot sleep in the first place, just because this the good time for us to take the sunrise shots on the plane. Both of us sit at the different side, so that we can take the different shots. Too bad that the one sit beside me is a little boy, he really make a lot of noise during the 2 hours flight.

8.50am (Siem Reap time-zone 7.50am), arrived Siem Reap International Airport. After settle everything with the custom then we thought that there should be someone waiting us at the arriving hall, because the hotel promised to send someone to pick us up in the airport. But after one hour waiting there, with another two ladies, from Indonesia, we decided to take the taxi.

Meet with the driver.

We meet with this driver who persuades us to take him as our driver to visit the temples and some places around Siem Reap. He charges us 100USD for the four days ride, and he changed my plan, but he promised that he will bring us to some other temple that out from the park. Since we got no idea where to get a good-driver for the following days, so we decided to take him as our driver.

After settle down everything in the hotel then we bring our tools and walk out to the street. Just like what happened in Bangkok, when you walk on the street sure many taxi driver or tuk tuk driver will ask you to take their service. A bit annoyed.

The weather in Siem Reap almost kill me, not only sun block is needed but I need to drink a lot of water. Not like Bangkok or Pattaya, in Siem Reap is not that easy for you to get the water supply; you need to walk for a distance to get the drinks from the store.

On the street, we try the French toast ice cream, and the coconut. This the first time I try out the French toast with ‘local ice cream’, they called it ‘Min Ice Cream’. This ice cream made by a kind of fruit (or mixed with some other fruit whereby we also no idea what in it), called ‘Min’, not sure what kind of fruit it is, but the taste so special. For the coconut, I still prefer Thailand coconut, miss it.

We stay out there not more than 2hours, then the sun force us to go back to our hotel. We bought some drinks from the Angkor Market, then went back to out room. I cannot stand for the hot sun anymore.

Take a nap to recharge ourselves, and then continue our activities with the night market and the night life in Siem Reap. Visit the Angkor Night Market near by the CAB Bank, on Sivatha Blvd. Road. The traffic in this city make us don’t know how to cross the road. Their traffic really terrible, a lot of motorbike, one motorbike can fit up to 5person on it.

Ready ourselves for the next day activities, sleep… zzZZzz…

For the second day (15/03/2008) in Cambodia

The second morning in Siem Reap City, like always don’t wish to wake up so early in the morning, 6.30am. Take our first breakfast in this city around 7am; take it in the hotel we’re staying. Our driver reached to our hotel as he’d promised, 8am, and we start our plan for today – visit Angkor Archaeological Park.

The first check point we stop is the ticket counter, at the main entrance of Angkor Archaeological Park. We get our three days pass for 40USD, they take less than 1 minutes to ready our pass, fast. We’re so lucky that not so many people buy the ticket, so we no need to wait for it.

First half day: Angkor Thom South Gate – Bayon – Baphuon – Phimeanakas – Royal Palace – Terrance of the Elephants – Prasats Sour Prat – Terrace of the Leper King – Ta Prohm – Banteay Kdei – Sras Srang (From 8am – 1pm, 5hours)

Second half day: Angkor Wat – Phnom Bakheng (From 3pm – 6.30pm, 3 ½ hours)

Whole day we facing all the ‘stone building’, first few building really interesting for us, but when come to another few more similar building, we started to feel bored. Getting tired.

All the gates are the same, the different will be which is the one they’re ‘safe’. The south gate of the Angkor Thom City is the most wonderful, or prefect gate, compare to the other gate, so we take such a long time to finish our work in this gate. The driver didn’t expect us will take more than half an hour to finish it, just because he do not understand our purpose to visit this place.

Too many people visit this park is the main problem for us during this competition (or vacation). Wherever we go we’ll meet with many tourists from other country. Every time when we try to get the better angle for our shots, sure someone will pass by the place, or someone will block the view. (I don’t wish to waste a lot of time to edit the photos…)

Today I drink more than 3Liters water for the whole day trip, luckily the driver ready enough mineral water for us. (This is part of the service they included in the package.) You can imagine that how hot the weather is in this city, plus you needed to walk under the big bright sun. Now I know why this park no needs to ready too many toilets.

Third day morning

Today we wake up early morning, around 4.15am, just try to catch the great moment for the sunrise at Angkor Wat. 5.15am, our driver, Rithy, reach to our hotel on time. The sky out there still very dark, but on the road got many vehicle, this city ‘wake up’ de.

We thought that still got time for us to pick up the good place for our sunrise shots, but we never expect that others reach there much more earlier than us. Inside Angkor Wat already full with people who going there for the same purpose.

Since the nice place taken by others so we just try to find other angle to get the shots. Walk around the ‘city’, the crowd is everywhere… haiz.

Amazing moment

The moment when the sun climb up to the peak of the Angkor Wat, nothing is beautiful than this picture. Awesome. I can’t believe that the sun can be so big and it just so close to us. Let my photos tell you how nice it is.

The sunrise takes us for one and a half hour, compare to the sunrise in the other place, this will be the top on the list. I love it.

After the sunrise, we take our breakfast at this local restaurant near by Angkor Wat. American Breakfast mixed with local style.

Schedule for Today

Banteay Srei – Pre Rup – East Mebon – Ta Som – Neak Pean – Preah Khan

Today our schedule is to finish the rest of the main temple in this park. The first place to visit is the Banteay Srei, a place located a bit far form Angkor Wat, about 25-30km. This not a big temple, but it was the most beautiful pink sandstone religious complex in Siem Reap. This temple also known as ‘Citadel of Women’.

I feel a bit annoyed to take photo in the temple full with other tourist, just because very hard to get the photos that you really want. It always happened that they will become part of your photo, or part of their body will be background of my photo.

Another tired day.

New Letter

Today joined the mobile team to do some promotion in JAIS, Shah Alam. One word to describe: Boring. The whole day just sitting there and chat with the staff from another region. Listen to her to share about what happen in her branch and how the stupid CEO treats them.

Not thing to do in the mobile but many things happened in HQ. This morning Jimmy told me that Dato didn’t sign for the termination letter, that’s why HR didn’t send it to me. Jimmy asked HR to pass him my letter so that he can pass it to me, but HR reply him said they ready the letter for Dato but he didn’t sign for it.

Then in the evening, Jimmy told me that the termination letter now become the warning letter, so called “In Conduct”… don’t know why it become warning letter since all these while he only mention that he wanna give me the termination letter. Now HR will ready the letter for me then want me to meet with Dato and explain to him.

I’m sure that during that time I’m not explaining but scold by him, he never listen to what we wanna explain. Just like the first time I meet with him, I thought that I need to explain to him what happened in the branch but at the end, the meeting was just talk about his ‘philosophy’. Now I just wait for HR to call me by tomorrow then arrange my appointment with him. Hope to settle it soon, so that I can go to my Cambodia trip more peaceful.

In the other side, Jimmy wants me to follow his mobile team to this Sabah trip on the 22nd on this month. Before this I try to not involve in this trip even thought I know that they still looking for someone to join this trip. I don’t want to join them just because that time I just come back from Cambodia and I need to ready the portfolio and the photos. Some more I planned to meet with the Editor of that travel agency, but now everything just have to cancel. So sad. Just planned for another short holiday in Kuantan but now…

There will be a great story will come after my meeting with the stupid CEO… ‘Wait and See’…

Police

This is what always happens when the time you really need to contact some credit card center or the customer service for some telecommunication company. I had experienced it before, when the time I need to find out why my credit card cannot go through the transaction. At the end, I give up after tried to call for more than 10-15mins.

Sometimes this auto system is annoyed, especially when you need to call the particular parties for few times. I cannot really remember which telecommunication company whereby you must wait until the other side (the auto answer machine) to finish then only you can press the number, nothing before that will be ‘entertain’.

Offer

Today is the fifth day after I quit from the previous job. Everything OK? Not sure yet. Still a lot thing inside my mind…

Jimmy, Area Manager, did call me on the first day I quit; he told me that Dato allowed me to appeal for my termination. Funny. He said Dato allowed me to appeal if I agree to commit him another new target in the new branch. I am not sure what target and which branch will I go. What he wants me to do is take some rest at the meanwhile wait for the letter from HR. When the time I receive the letter then he will discuss with me about the new target and the branch.

The next day after I received the call from Jimmy, my staff called me and told me that Dato called to branch and asked him when I leaved the branch. (I’m so confuse what’s going on) He also asked that who allowed me to leave. o.O

Until this day I have not received the letter from HR, called, they told me that the letter is ready to send out. (I’m not sure when will I get it.) Stupid HR. Haiz…

I’m still looking for the part time job since I’m sure that I don’t have any income for this month. *headache… I still cannot look for the new job because I need to go for Cambodia by this coming Friday, some more I haven’t settle my case, everything ‘still in progress’.

Should I take the ‘offer’?

Last Day

This day will be the last day for me to stay in this branch. The termination letter will out by tomorrow, at the end the CEO already find out that HR haven’t give me the termination letter. Today not only HR staffs scold by CEO but the operation manager too. Then new manager of this branch receive the call from CEO, and get the order that I must leave this branch soon.

He promised that the letter would be on my hand by tomorrow, so I just wait for them to send the letter out. When the time I receive the letter then I need to settle my payment and everything with the company.

Everything so sudden, now a lot of thing I need to settle, as I’m expected.

Start from tomorrow I got a lot time to do my own work, before I get the new job, and wait until I come back from my trip. Not thing inside my mind, everything blank, like a piece of blank paper.

Planning? “Don’t know…?”

New Job? “No idea…”

Place to stay? “Looking for it…”

… … …

This will be the first time for me to look for a job in KL, after so many years I stay in this city, so don’t ask me any idea for it.

All these years I stay in hostel, but now I need to look for the place for my own. The first time I pay for rental…

Planning, I do got a lot of planning, but not under this situation, this not a good time for me to do any planning, since I’m not in the good mood to plan for it. Everything not yet settles, and everything not yet confirm. Before this I really wish to change my job, since I’m so enjoy myself in photography but not this time, because the income from that part not so stable for me to settle my living cost. Before this I thought I only to plan for all these after I end up my contract by end of this year. Everything comes to me too early, really a big challenge for me.

Complicated

Everything still very messy…

HR: My status under termination. No payment will out for me for this month.

Operation Manager: Not thing can help and cannot explain why the termination letter still cannot reach my hand. *speechless.

Datin: Will try to talk to Dato and do some arrangement for me.

Mobile Manager: try to meet with Dato too… (just come back from Outstation.)

What I’m doing here? Everyday come to work but not thing to do. Just waiting the time to pass and go back in the evening.

Yesterday get a call from my friend and she also facing the same problem as me. Another poor staff like me…

Remember someone told me this: “…..Maybe this is a way to see what else you might want to do in life and find a way to do it, instead of working in this job. Maybe this is someone (God?) saying “OK, you did not like working for this company, here is your chance to go do something else.” Take this time to think about what you REALLY want to do……”

This makes me feel better, thanks for the one who told me this. What I wish is try to settle all this soon. I don’t want to stay at this company to suffer anymore.
