It's NOT what I Want

After two weeks we missed the class, this afternoon went for revision class with Jane. Evening join the big group for the practice. Today got no class, because our lecturer not around. The bad feeling come when we join the big group.

Today only our senior will guide us to do some practice for the way to use the lighting inside studio. What make me feel bad is the number of people in the studio, too many people for this class. I got no mood to practice anymore and just keep all my tools into my bag. They did ask me why I’m not practicing but I didn’t answer.

The way they practice is without thinking what is right and what is wrong, they just shot after they set up the flash light. Actually I prefer we discuss every single photo after we shot, because we need to know what’s the purpose to set the different light and what is the result, I mean the correct effect, not the one they did.

This evening I just become an observer in the class, do not thing, but just standing aside to see what they try to do. I told Jane I’ll come to practice again by net week but not in the same time with them, I’ll come a bit early then will leave before they start the class.

We both decided to complaint this case to our lecturer and let him to decide should we split the class or continue let 11-13 people to stay in the same room, sharing the lights. If really cannot change the situation then after this I only will attend the theory class and do my practical some other time.

Just ask one of the senior about the final portfolio for this class. We need to set our own topic, and use our creativity to take a series of studio shots, can be indoor or outdoor, then just hand it up to the lecturer. Now I should think what will be good to become the topic of my final.

Ops...

The Usage of Office Desktop

This morning went into AM’s Office, he’s not around, he gave me his office key to settle something. I didn’t mean to search for something bad from his desktop, but after I finished everything and waiting for staff from another department to come and meet me.

That moment I got not thing to do, open IE, and then check my mail… finished… check my blog… finished… still waiting… IE still there, only the address is empty… Type in ‘a’… not thing much come out… Type in ‘b’… a long list… even the list is long but few words get my attention… ‘fu*k’, ‘hole’, ‘three…’… just click one of it to find it out where the address link me to.

Pop up with Ads, Ads that selling porn, straight porn. When I closed the pop-up window, the original window running a video, porn video, OMG, straight porn. Now I know what my AM do when he’s free… Watching porn in the office. Cannot continue anymore, just shut it down and call for the staff who should meet me half an hour ago. Just wish to leave the room A.S.A.P…

Bad Service

One month, my device not working at all, cannot online at home, bring me a lot of trouble. Since today, I need to go to BTS, just pay a visit to U-Mobile branch in G-Floor.

Give them a very dark face; ask them to check for the status. Feedback: Sorry no coverage at your area. WTF, they not upgrading their service but ‘downgrade’, DOWN until cannot provide any service at all. When I tell them I wish to terminate the contract, they tell me I cannot terminate unless I pay the penalty, RM 799 + RM78 (last month charges).

Solution given: Just wait until our system fully upgrades and we’ll inform you… BULLSHIT! How I gonna know how long your stupid company need to take to upgrade your stupid system, which only can use for few months, then die. I repeating asking for the same question: How I gonna end-up the contract, by not paying you anything? How you all gonna compensate my lost?

Still no solution at all, just gives me the contact number for the HQ in 11th floor in the same building. Office closed just visits them next week.

First Class

This evening is my first class for my studio class, so excited. Just ready all tools, and get ready the notebook to copy down the notes. What I didn’t expect is there are so many people in this class. Normally one class should be 5-8 people, but this class 11people. OMG, too many people, until we got no time to practice how to use the studio flash set.

One of the senior said, just relax, first class always full, or extra, but when come to second or third class, then getting lesser and lesser. Just believe it at this moment. Not enjoy with the practical part since too many people take turn to take the shots, just learn the theory, and then practice it another time.

Luckily normal day seldom people use this studio room, so we planned next week to come over a bit early, and practice by ourselves.

Eye of Malaysia 2

Since last few days my story keep on talking about what happened in my office. Sorry to make you all bored with it.

This day talk something not about my work… actually just want to share some thing in my first time nighttime shooting class. Today our class in Tasik Titiwangsa, yes, this the second time I’m in this lake but different from the previous one will be the time.

Today’s topic for the class is about the sunset and the night-view.

Before this I’m not so happy when the time my lecturer told us that this week our evening class in Titiwangsa, cause before this we planned to go to Dataran Merdeka. Since they decided it, then I just follow.

This night I tried out something different. I’m not only taking the ‘normal’ landscape for the Eye of Malaysia. I try to use the zooming and move my camera to get different image.

I’ll upload the photos later. (I need sometime to arrange it and pick the nicest one.)

KLCC

The second time I take the photos in this KLCC Park. If someone remembers the track that I posted it last time, that track actually comes from this KLCC Park. This time I try to get the different angle for our KL landmark – KL Twin Tower…

Everyday thousand of people taking the different angles of this tower and how I gonna take something different from others? That’s the main point for today class.

We try a lot of reflection whereby normally the people wont notice it. We’re not only using the reflection from the metal ball on the bridge of the middle of the park but we also using the reflection from the wall of the convention centre.

Wanna know what I did on my class? Find it out in my Flickr.

The Day Before

Last night can’t really sleep well since I’m so excited to go for my first photography trip with my lovely camera, not one but two…

Today still need to go for evening class before I take the last bus tonight (12am). Watch the movie – 30 Days of Night. Not a bad chicken rice, but not the best.

Great Day, Rainy Night

Class in Lake Garden

This the second time I come to lake garden for photography purposes, last time (one month before) me, JL, JY, Jason Jr and Jane, and now I join my class to the same place.

Today we not alone in this park but there got a charity run held in this garden too – Terry Fox Run 2007 @KL. [more]

Actually this day our class project is to practice the Panning, Zooming and the Depth of Field (DOF). I try my best to do so but most of the time I’m taking the photos in my own style… =P I saw the insect so cute then I just follow the insect. When the class taking the photo of the plant, then I go to take the photo of the water. I know what I want to take in this garden that’s why I didn’t follow the group.

Share the few shots that I really like.

Little Me in this World

We finished our class around 1pm, and then Jane and me went to KLCC for lunch. (One of our classmate drop us there) After lunch then we take the bus from KLCC to Mid Valley.

Nighttime shooting

Around 5.30pm I go back to my hostel to take my tripod before I meet with Jason and others in Kelana Jaya LRT station. We meet there to take our dinner and to pick up the tripod from Jane’s office. The tripod is too heavy for me to carry it with me since I got my own tripod to carry for. Approx 3kg. Jane managed to get one tripod which Alex asking for and get the cleaning tools for me, in FOC…

When the time we meet in LRT Station the sky still raining, and we hope that after our dinner then the rain will stop.

We take our dinner at SS24, Ming Tian Food Court, before we go to Cheras. We share with each other the photos we took this morning. When we saw the rain almost stop then we start to move.

Our next location will be in the place called Little Genting, in Cheras. This was the first time I come to this place, not for other purpose but for photography. This place known as the place for the couple to… (hhhmmmm… no comment for what they do here…)

For us, we wish to get the nice KL night-view. The view is nice but the sky is bad. The rain stop us to walk out from the car with our camera, even the night view is nice but we don’t wish our camera to get wet. We just change our plan to come again in another two more weeks.

This place really nice but only a bit scary when the time you come to the dead-end and when you see the nice but empty house at the corner. That house really scary and it doesn’t make sense why no one stays in that house. One of the side of this house facing the most nice view to the KL city and the location is not bad, means that you just can see the view from the window of your room. So weird when it’s empty. (Guess what ‘staying’ inside the house… =P)

At last we just take a drink in the café with the name of High High Tea. We come here just because of the funny name. The drink in this café also funny, ‘High-Man’, ‘High-Lady’, ‘Purple Storm’, ‘Green Garden’,…

This trip we only know how to reach this place and next round we pray for nice weather.

Tired after whole day photography class… =)

Rainy Day

Today class cancels. WT… Just because both of the lecturer go for this photography trip in Tokyo. Plan spoiled…

2nd plan spoiled too since one of my friends have to work on her off day to replace her manager. We plan to have this k-session since today got no class.

3rd plan come…

Take our lunch, watch a movie then go to Titiwangsa for this evening shots.

Plan spoiled once again! @#$&%^X#^%*@

After finished our movie and come out from the cinema then we find out, it’s raining… WTH… before we go into the screen the sky still hanging the big bright sun there, but now…

OMG… not thing to do since the plan spoiled. Staying in this shopping so called my second home, walk around but get not thing. Check for the latest camera stuff and magazine but I updated most of it, so not thing for me. What a BAD DAY…

Two meals after changed the 3rd plan.

Since not thing to do and my stomach complaining that he need some food so just drop by a café to take my early dinner. Chat with Jane while waiting for another friend to finished her movie around 8pm.

After sending Jane to the bus station then go to visit the poor girl who need to replace her manager on her off day, she work in Mid Valley branch. Chat for half an hour then meet with Eva and go for dinner again.

SweetChat (name for the café)

As the name of the café, most of the dessert “Too sweet to talk about it” (=SweetChat)

Luckily the white coffee not as sweet as the dessert they serve, the sugar will kill me…

Not only the sugar but the oil too… they putting too much of oil into the food, luckily not in my food but my friend’s.

I never come back to this café. Sorry for that.

Amazing Day

Wake up at 8am… another day wake up early morning to catch the best weather… Thanks God for answering my prayer and give us a big bright sun in this Sunday morning. I worship his holy day with the best shots on his great creation to the nature. I try my best to search for his footprints and record it into my tiny little digital stuff.

Breakfast, I must remember to take it before I start my work on this day, cause I know I need a lot of energy to bring all the tools and walk for a long distance.

First time visit this garden, everything is new for me. Reach this place, get my mood into the garden and ready myself for it.

I like the sun but I hate it at the same time… it’s bring what I need in my shots but he make me feel so hot and sweat like just come out from the sauna room… a bottle of 500ml mineral water can not reload what I lost in an hour under this yellow yolk in the sky.

After finish the day only I’m asking myself why I’m troublesome myself to bring this tripod with me, I never open it, I got no time to think for more but keep on looks around and grab what ever I think it’s good into my small box.

Not a good start for me when the first few shots not in focus and not in right reading. I work hard with the setting when the time most of them already takes few nice shots in the park. I missed the smile on the children’s face and their action when they playing on the ground.

Change the target to take the shots for the old trees and the pretty flowers who covered up with leafs. Takes the photo stepping on the stone not as easy as what I thought, the water play with me and just another small step then I’ll fall into the water. I’m so happy, not because I not dropping into the water but just because I manage to take the nice photos.

Taking the dragonfly on the bridge make me so angry at the lens I’m using. The dragonfly was stopped on the tiny leaf but it’s too far from my distance. I facing the same when the time I take the photos of a pair of birds eating their lunch. 18-135mm lens definitely not enough for me to zoom. Now I need to get another lens to fulfill my needs. Not the expensive one.

Ended the session and share our production on the table where we take our lunch (Blunch for Jason Jr). Share the happiness together always the good time; share the idea always the best way to learn. Good shots waiting to publish, bad shots waiting for learning.

A good day with my lovely camera.

New Toys

Today I’m so happy and excited to get my new toy from Trilion (The Camera Shop in MV).

The Story of the New Baby – Nikon D80

Yesterday I received the call from Mr K from Trilion. He confirmed that he could get us two Nikon D80 from the supplier. The pricing is a bit different from the previous promotion. Previously the pricing was RM4100 for the kit set, included the 2GB Memory card, Camera Bag and Tripod.

Now the pricing will be RM 4160 for the kit set, and the latest kit set without any free gift (The free gift should provided from the supplier). Therefore we need to get the accessories by ourselves.

This will be the price I get for the whole set of the Camera.

Nikon D80 RM 4888 RM 4160

4GB SDHC RM 399 RM 195

Hoya Filter (UV Coated) – RM 299 RM 90 (FOC Screen Protector)

Camera Bag RM 85

Tripod Free

Printing Voucher – Free 400 copy of 4R sizes and get the better discount for the 8R (RM7.00 @)

Wau!!! At last I get my Nikon D80… we spent 2 hours in the shop to settle all the document and QC for the New Baby. This day still cannot use it for shooting since the battery too low (or consider still empty) and it need to charge for 10hours.

Now I planning to buy the speedlight SB800, they charge us RM 1350 for it. Thinking should I get it next month.

Yup, talk about the Nikon Coolpix P5100. Mr K told us that the model could only get it end of the year. That’s is ok for me since we get this D80 and I still can use it while waiting for the P5100. Actually the P5100 just for easy carry, so for now I have to carry the D80 with me everytime to class and shooting session.

When we share about the pricing that we get in the class, one of the course-mate get his D80 with RM 4800, and his kit set only come with 2GB, bag and tripod. I think that price will be too expensive. (He gets it 2months before us)

Time to read the manual of the camera, so share with you more about my new toy in the future…

Challenge is Coming...

Yesterday afternoon spent the whole afternoon at Mid Valley and BTS to look for the Camera that I wanted to buy… Nikon Coolpix P5100… Mission Fail~~

Luckily I’m not alone to look for this model. Jane and me walk for the whole day just for this camera. Most of the shops told us that this model is a new model and still haven’t received the new stock, not even the display sets. WTF… as I know this model launched in Malaysia for about one month before so I can’t really understand why so slow for them to get the new stock.

We so disappointed when the plan for today all spoiled…

First Class – Intro

Evening time we reach Photo Creator Office at Jalan Pudu to attend our first class. First time meet with the classmate and when the time we walk in to the classroom they talking something about the pricing for the photo shooting.

Only 9 of us attend this class where by I think the rest will attend the class in Thursday. Our lecturers – Yen Hau and Kim Teoh (The Publisher of the Photo Creator Magazine and the Travelmate Magazine). My friend said we so lucky Kim Teoh become one of our lecturer whereby he’s one of the best lecturer.

This evening we haven’t met with Kim, only YH tell us something about the class.

After we intro ourselves and our photography background then YH start to tell us what we need to prepare before and after the last class.

Before the class, we need to prepare ourselves for the outdoor shooting after the 5th class, whereby we need to go for shooting early in the morning, around 8am. (means I must wake up around 6 to get ready and reach there before 8. Walau…) and most of the day of shooting will be on Sunday.

After the 12weeks when the classes end, we got one month the get ready two portfolios. (OMG…class haven’t start but we already received the assignment from the lect…) YH shows us the portfolio done by the senior. The minimum request for each of the book of the portfolio must be in 20-25 photos and the first book we need to print it in 4R sizes and the second one we need to print it in 5R or 8R.

The topic for the first book was fixed and we need to get the photo ready to match with the different topics.

First book:

- Shutter

- Depth of field

- Aperture

- Focal length

- Distance

- Perspective

- White Balance

- Lighting

- Composition

- Golden Crossing Spots

- Framing

- Front / Middle / Back Scene

- Panning

- Zooming

- Night Scene

Second book: (we need to set the topic by ourselves and ready about 20 photos for it)

Pick 3-4 topics out of…

- Landscape

- Event

- Macro

- Fine Art

- Portrait

- Building

- Nature

The terms are if we fail to summit the two portfolio then we cannot take the certificate. (OMG… within four months… I need to ready the best shoots for it… I… mmmm… haiz…)

I like the class… and I love the photography… is the time for me to get ready myself for this challenge. Wish me luck…

After KLPF 2007

Yesterday spent the whole day at this KLPF (KL Photography Festival). We (me and my friend) so disappointed with this year festival, compare with the previous year. Disappointed with the supplier who set their counter there but didn’t complete with the model and price list.

The day before I went there with Alex and ask for the price list from the Nikon. They only display not more than 10 models and come with uncompleted price list. Everytime we ask one model then they only will call to the office to check it up. Some more they can’t give the better price compare with other camera store. I can get the Nikon D80 for RM4,100 but they still put the RSP RM4,888, when I ask for discount then only I can get RM4,250. When I tell him that I may get two and I said other store give me RM4100 then he said their company only can give RM 4,100 as the lowest price. WTF. Ask them for the price list of the Nikon Coolpix P5100 they said they don't have the price list for that but my friend just tried it from the Camera Shop in Section 14, PJ. She get the good price for it too. I don't understand why they setup here.

Some more the opposite counter selling the same model… I don’t understand how they do the setup.

Another funny case from Canon whereby they put a model and tell me that they know the price of the camera but cannot tell the customer because the model only launch after 3 weeks. I think better I get the information from the internet than asking all these Idiot.

Next time I wish that they can choose the better hall cause the hall in BTS (Bunny, BTS stand for Berjaya Times Square XP) looks like warehouse. I think some warehouse looks even nicer than this. The air-con not working so well, whereby only part of the hall can feel the cold. When we sitting in the seminar ‘room’ we still can listen to what they deal with the supplier. What so funny is when come to the last hour of the fair, I can even heard that: Best Buy! Best Buy!… Last Offer!!!! RMxxx for the xxx Battery Charger… Last Call!!!…. (Shut up man… I still have to finish my seminar)

What I get in this fair was some books and magazines. I get a lot of information and idea from the seminar. I like the most among all the seminar is the one the editor of the “Jing Xuan” Discovery Magazine from Taiwan, talking about his 25years Photography Adventure, with the topic of “Zeng Hao” (Good Timing in the Right Place).

He shared his photo from the early years to the latest month that he takes it from all around the world. We learn a lot in the two hours talk.

I sit in the hall from 2pm till 8pm. (you can’t believe that this was the first time I stay in a hall for more than 6hours but only go to toilet for once) I don’t wish to miss the talk and most important is I don’t wish to miss the seat that I sitting. I sit at good seat, third roll from the front and in the middle seat (means the center of the hall, the seminar room is so small, = a single lot in BTS).

Finished all the talk then only I can feel my stomach is empty for the last 6 hours, mean I ‘puasa’ for 6hours… hungry… I didn’t take my dinner at BTS but go all the way to Damansara Perdana to take my dinner at ‘Friendster Café’.

Thanks for the traffic I reach there around 9pm. Luckily the café can ready the food in less than 15mins. My stomach start to bang the wall and order me must feed him something.

01.30 am - Damn tired after the seminar… Sleep…

My Foundation Photography

Today I’m so happy when my friend, Jane, told me that she received the call from the lecturer that confirm we get the seats at the Photography class. This photography class organizes by a Chinese Photograph Magazine, so the classes will be in Chinese.

This course set with 12 theory classes and 6 outdoor practical classes. It will take me three months to finish it. The classes will be once a week, and the class will be in evening time, two hours class, from 7.30pm – 9.30pm. it will starts around middle of September.

This course cost me RM770 included one-year membership and one year magazine supply. Today I only pay for the RM70 for the membership and magazine, the balance only pay on the second class, this’ what the lecturer told us.

Each of the class got different topic or chapter and all this listed on the form I filled in.

Their outdoor classes will be on Sunday and that time we need to ready our SLR. That’s mean this time I really need to buy my own SLR before the practical class start. The lecturer tells us we no need SLR when we in the theory classes, but after 12 weeks of classes and theory class end, then we need the SLR.

I really need to save money to buy my SLR now, no more delay, have to ikat perut liao… ooh… no more shopping in this few months… so sad…

What makes me so excited is when the lecturer told me that one of the practical classes maybe would go to Vietnam. We only need to pay for the returns tickets. Wau, this really makes me cannot wait for the classes to start. So excited…
