The driver hints us right before we enter into the Mother Temple, he said: “oh, the ticket for enter the temple is VERY expensive…”. I cannot understand the statement after I paid the ticket, 40,000 Rp (for 4 of us, equal to RM14), for the entrance fees. I thought he’s kidding with us.
When we reach the parking area and pass by a small counter, thought that just a normal counter which full with guys hanging out there. BUT… stories started from here. This is the ‘ticket counter’ that our driver meant in the first place. The first ticket counter is owned by government, so the 40,000Rp we paid for the ‘real ticket’, then the second one actually is taken by the organization, don’t know legal or not, they said they are asking for donation, but the way they asking not like what they meant. They actually forcing us to pay for the ‘donation’, some more they’re the one who telling you how much you should pay. We urging with them for 5mins, we wanna pay 10,000Rp, but they asking for at least 200,000Rp. WTH. They show us the list how much others pay for their donation, some more with the number of people visiting too. On the list, most of them pay 200,000-300,000, all these forcing by the local people. We asked for discount, and then at last we pay 150,000Rp. Just like what the driver said: Temple ni memang cantik, tapi cepat gelap… (Means no matter how holy the place is but the darkness will cover it up soon) For them who wanna visit Mother Temple after this, the only advice is get more discount if you really cannot avoid it. I don’t think I’ll visit Mother temple anymore since if just slightly bigger than the normal temple, not much different, you cannot go into the main temple, only can see from outside.
